Disney is gearing up to celebrate the release of "Zootopia 2," putting out four creative shorts on Nov. 4, and turning its unique Zootopia land at Shanghai Disneyland into a living extension of the sequel.

On Nov. 18, Shanghai Disney Resort will also partner with The Walt Disney Company China to host the Global Celebration of "Zootopia 2" in the world's only Zootopia-themed land at Shanghai Disneyland. Like the city of Zootopia itself, the celebration will be a dynamic experience, welcoming creators, guests and fans from around the world to gather for an unforgettable occasion.
Thanks to its creative collaboration with Disney Animation, the resort will introduce new film-inspired decorations, embedded details, reimagined entertainment and a series of limited-time experiences that collectively bring the story of the vibrant metropolis to life in new and immersive ways.
Andrew Bolstein, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, explained: "Since opening in December 2023, Zootopia has welcomed millions of guests from home and abroad, becoming one of the resort's most beloved experiences and earning global theme park industry recognition. In celebration of 'Zootopia 2,' our talented cast members and Imagineers have teamed up with Walt Disney Animation Studios artists to extend the new story into creative, tangible and immersive experiences in our Zootopia-themed land."
In "Zootopia" (2016), directed by Byron Howard, Rich Moore and Jared Bush, Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde solved their first case and proved that "anyone can be anything." Their unlikely partnership saved the animal metropolis and became a global fan favorite. The film won the Academy Award for best animated feature in 2017 and earned more than $1 billion worldwide, including 1.53 billion yuan ($236 million) in China, where it remains the top-grossing foreign animated film.

In the highly anticipated sequel — which over 2.2 million Chinese fans have bookmarked to watch on ticketing platforms Maoyan and Taopiaopiao — the rookie duo reunites to solve an even more intricate case, pushing them to rely on and redefine the trust that first bound them together. Their dynamic story will unfold alongside the park experience, letting guests step directly into Judy and Nick's latest narrative.
From Nov. 18, visitors to Shanghai Disneyland can see Judy and Nick in their new "Zootopia 2" outfits, with appearances continuing through Jan. 27, 2026. The resort will exclusively present the characters in their Zootennial Gala fashions as the only Disney park worldwide to feature these sequel looks.
Clues from Judy and Nick's new adventure will appear throughout the land, allowing observant guests to follow the story while experiencing the Zootopia: Hot Pursuit attraction. At the ride's finale, the celebratory scene will be refreshed by Disney Imagineers with a performance of the sequel's new original song "Zoo" — again performed by iconic superstar Gazelle with vocals by Shakira — along with upgraded lighting, music and synchronized effects.
The resort will also incorporate the canal-laced Marsh Market district from "Zootopia 2" into the themed land through updated signposts, cryptic posters and revised city maps, while new character Gary De'Snake — a pit viper — will appear throughout the Zootopia land starting Nov. 18, join the daily live entertainment shows and have hints about his role appear in several locations. Furthermore, guests can discover clues about additional new characters from the sequel throughout the Zootopia land.
The "Zootopia 2" adventure extends beyond the themed land, immersing guests throughout Shanghai Disney Resort with limited-edition character tickets, new character ice sculptures and a giant Judy Hopps floral display. From Nov. 18 until Jan. 27, visitors will be able to join the Zootopia Detective Quest WeChat mini program to follow clues while experiencing new scenes in the nighttime castle projection show featuring both "Try Everything" and the new song "Zoo."
A wave of new products will also be available, allowing visitors to taste Zootopia-themed treats and dress up in themed apparel.

To further build excitement for the new installment, Disney recently announced the star-studded Chinese voice cast for the film, including famous actor and singer Kris Phillips as Winddancer, renowned filmmaker Da Peng as Gary De'Snake, and young actors Jin Chen as Nibbles and Wang Anyu as Pawbert. Beloved voice actors Ji Guanlin and Zhang Zhen will reprise their roles as Judy and Nick, respectively.
Disney also partnered with China's Shanghai Animation Film Studio to produce "A Day in the Life of Zootopia" — four promotional animated shorts featuring fan-favorite characters. Released on major Chinese streaming platforms on Nov. 4, the collection uses distinct traditional techniques of stop-motion, ink wash, 2D and paper-cut animation by four Chinese animators and their teams to showcase new sides of the animal metropolis through locally resonant storytelling.
As "Zootopia 2" hits theaters on Nov. 26, the adventure is set to continue beyond the screen.
